In my experience working several jobs, the biggest enemy besides disorganization was definitely STRESS. I am someone who seeks to always reduce stress. I have complied this quick list of stress-busters that anyone can do without spending a fortune or even going out of your way.
I Present 10 cheap stress-busters:
10. Listen to your favorite music on headphones. Headphones will help deaden that external noise, and will give you the opportunity to listen to your favorite music. Try classical music, because if your favorite music is rap or death metal it might backfire to try to de-stress with those tunes.
9. Go outside and take a walk. Take at least a 10 minute walk, and go outside to do it. You’re doing several things to interrupt your pattern by getting out for a walk. Going outside into fresh air you’re giving yourself a temperature change, you’re doing some simple exercise, and you’re likely getting away from other people who might be adding to the dissonance behind your stress.
8. Drink Hot Tea. Green tea can be a stress reducer. Very cheap, very simple, very quick. Enjoy
7. Primal Scream. Go sit in your car for 5 minutes and yell. Let yourself go fully into Tourettes syndrome if that makes you feel better.
6. Try to be funny. Even if your jokes are bad, sometimes you can drown out stress by making yourself or others laugh. If you don’t have any jokes try re-telling some from a famous comedian that you have heard.
5. Watch a horror movie. If you think you’re stressed what about all of those poor people about to get tore up by Freddie Kruger? The theory here is that you start off stressed, the horror movie stresses you out even more, but you end up less stressed than you were to begin with.
4. Go fishing. There isn’t a whole lot that is stressful about fishing unless you are going salt water big fish fishing. I’m just recommending that you go out in a canoe in a nice lake and give it a try. The stress will just dissolve.
3. Read a magazine. You could also try reading escape literature. Reading has a natural calming effect. By reading about something that takes you away for a bit, you might get some perspective. The idea is to learn that the stimulus causing the stress isn’t such a big deal after all.
2. Workout. If you have a dusty gym membership, get it together and decide that your stress level can be destroyed by some time on the treadmill or by doing bench presses or crunches.
1. Pray. Like McHammer once said. “You’ve got to pray just to make it today”. Also as Bon Jovi said, “We’re halfway there, woah-oh livin on a prayer”.
